A wonderful way to be in ministry and serve God by serving others is participating on a Mission Trip.

Sr. High Mission Trip
Henderson Settlement Mission Trip
June 30 – July 6

Work Camp serves two purposes at Henderson Settlement. First, and primarily, it serves as an opportunity to educate persons in mission and the needs that exist amongst the less fortunate in our society. Secondly, work camp often serves as the bridge between dreams and reality for families of the Laurel Fork Valley of southeastern Kentucky, while giving groups the opportunity to witness for Christ through home repair.

Work camp teams travel within a twenty mile radius from Henderson Settlement located in Frakes, KY. Work teams are able to adopt home repair projects and raise the money for the project, adopting projects within their team’s means. The project (or projects) a team selects should be equal to the skill level of the team leaders. Projects can also be adopted on the Henderson Settlement campus that helps maintain the ministries we can’t take out into the community.

Cost:
(June, July, August) $225.00/ person plus traveling and food while traveling.
As a group we will decide our projects at our team meeting and then raise the funds for the projects.

The $225.00/ person include all lodging, meals, supervision, recreation facilities, and even program activities while at Henderson Settlement. Wireless Internet access is available at the Mission Dorm facility.

We will leave Mt. Pleasant on June 30 and return on July 6.

Team Meeting April 6 to decide projects and plan fundraisers.

Middleburgh, NY Mission Trip

Rebuilding from Hurricane Irene Hurricane Irene was an eight day tropical cyclone, late August 2011. Irene is currently ranked as the seventh costliest hurricane in United States history.

Why not Super Storm Sandy? Several reasons
Rebuilding efforts have been greatly slowed due to city permits and local builders unions.
Federal bureaucracy has really slowed efforts.
Faith based organizations are really struggling. UMCOR is discouraged.

Jack Hill came to Cedar Rapids with teams three times. Then, he helped 6 weeks during the summer with team coordination. Jack will be our coordinator. This is Iowa giving back to New York.

Cost (based on ten or more participants): $300 plus traveling food {$30 a day}
